cascais wasn’t chosen for its coastline (though the coastline doesn’t hurt). a small town at the western edge of Europe, where the Sintra hills meet the sea, and where Lisbon's energy gives way to something else entirely.
this is a place with a genuine life to it. triathletes in the water at dawn. market traders who've been at the same stall for decades. long lunches that nobody rushes. an international crowd that came for a season and never left. cascais has that rare quality — it's cosmopolitan without being restless, and relaxed without being sleepy.
it's also a place that understands what it has, and is working to protect it. a destination with real spirit is what brought unearth here.
